Know the signs - Preschool
Signs of Dyslexia (often but not always)
The Preschool Years
Delayed speech & /or language development
Difficulty learning new vocabulary & concepts, such as colours & numbers
Difficulty developing rhyming skills & learning nursery rhymes
Difficulties following instructions
Mispronouncing words
Difficulty associating speech sounds with letters
Difficulty learning and remembering the names of letters
Difficulty matching words that begin with the same sound.
Family history of learning difficulties
If you suspect your preschool aged child is showing signs of dyslexia, it is recommended that you see a speech pathologist with knowledge of dyslexia. Early intervention of intensive phonological awareness support & explicit structured phonics will give your child the best start.

Difficulty decoding unfamiliar words

Struggles to fill out forms or applications
Limited working memory
Disorganisation & difficulties with planning
