Dan Colquhoun is an award-winning primary teacher, educational musician, and literacy advocate dedicated to ensuring every student has access to effective, evidence-based instruction.

As a person with dyslexia, Dan understands firsthand the frustration and anxiety that can come from struggling to read and spell. His lived experience drives his passion for supporting students with learning differences and raising awareness about the importance of early identification and structured literacy. He has spent many years advocating within school systems for a shift towards evidence-based approaches to teaching literacy. Dan brings to the board knowledge of the Science of Reading, Explicit Direct Instruction, and Structured Literacy, along with a strong commitment to empowering educators and learners alike to achieve success and confidence through structured literacy.
