Mat Rowland

Co-opted Director

Originally from the UK, Mat Rowland faced significant challenges throughout his primary and secondary education due to Dyslexia and Dysgraphia. He left school at the age of 16 with only a handful of lower-level qualifications. Dismissed by several teachers who told him he would never amount to anything, Mat used this negativity as fuel.

Determined not to let his learning difficulties define him, he launched the first of four successful businesses by the age of 23. Mat often says he has succeeded in life despite his education, not because of it.

Mat is married to Elizabeth, and together they have a thirteen-year-old son, George, who has also been diagnosed with Dyslexia and Dysgraphia. Supporting George through his own educational journey has resurfaced many painful memories for Mat. It has become increasingly clear to him that learning disabilities remain widely misunderstood by educators and policymakers.

As a result, the Rowland family have become passionate advocates for greater awareness and understanding of learning disabilities. They work to highlight the importance of early diagnosis and the need for meaningful educational adjustments to ensure every child has a fair and equal opportunity to succeed in school and beyond.
