Director - Anita Evans Hellevik has a 13 year old son who was identified as having Dyslexia and Dyscalculia in 2012. Difficulties convincing his teachers there was a problem led Anita into dyslexia advocacy.
Her husband is also dyslexic and she continues to be alarmed that her son is encountering the same lack of understanding and support as her husband did nearly 40 years ago.
She is a UK trained primary teacher with 26 years of teaching experience from Kindergarten up to High School with having taught in the British, American, and Australian education systems and international settings..
Anita is an Australian Dyslexia Association trained MSL therapist, and currently works in private practice supporting students of all ages with Dyslexia, Dysgraphia, and Dyscalculia on the NSW Central Coast.
She is a former Secretary of the Central Coast Dyslexia Association and is a co-administrator of the Dyslexia Support NSW Group. Anita is a passionate advocate for the rights of all children to be taught to read using evidence based methods.
